Second Life Graphics Driver Issue: Quick Fix

December 7th, 2009 | Administration | Chris | View Comments

Well, after upgrading my personal desktop to Windows 7 I began receiving an error message that my driver was not installed correctly. Searching the internet I didn’t find any clear-cut solution to this problem, so I’m including it here in case anyone runs into it in the future.

To fix, first close all open programs and then go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> click Device Manager (found under Devices and Printers)

Expand “Display Adapters“. This should contain your graphics card (in my case it says NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT).

Right click on the video card and select Update Driver Software.

Windows will find an update (which is probably available) and install it automatically. Once it finishes, simply Restart your system.

Second Life should now work.

Hope this helps!
